Retail Manager & Head Fly Fishing Guide
Travis Jay Vernon

Bio:
I’ve cast a line in every country I’ve ever visited—from the Steelhead runs of British Columbia to the Atlantic Salmon beats of Ireland—but my heart has always belonged to the West.
My obsession with the water began at age four on Utah's Chalk Creek, fueled by a fly-fishing legacy passed down from my father and great-grandfather. Since 1997, I’ve shared that heritage with others as a guide, mentor, and instructor.
My expertise is rooted in the premier waters of Utah and Wyoming. Whether it’s navigating the technical hatches of the Green, Provo, and Weber Rivers or exploring the hidden, blue-ribbon creeks of the Uinta and Bridger-Teton Mountains, I provide my clients with an insider’s perspective on the region's best fisheries.
As an educator, I don’t believe in a "one size fits all" approach. I tailor every experience to the individual, offering specialized courses in:
- Comprehensive Casting: From foundational casts to advanced technical presentations.
- The Art of Fly Tying: Teaching the intricate patterns that produce results on local waters.
- On-the-Water Strategy: Understanding entomology, river reading, and approach.
While I have completed the Utah and Wyoming Cutthroat Slams multiple times, I am far from a purist. I believe the best way to fish is the way that puts a smile on your face. Whether I’m volunteering with my wife for Casting for Recovery Wyoming or guiding a client toward their first-ever trout, I am driven by the same goal: helping others master the sport and experience the magic of the high backcountry.
